Collection Descriptions
When a catalog becomes a magazine.
Premise
Lobster's Day designs chairs with a distinct character. Each collection reinterprets a design icon—the mid-century iron chair, the geometry of the rhombus, the tension between the industrial and the domestic—and translates it into a contemporary language. That level of discernment called for words that could do it justice.
The Challenge
Product descriptions tend to be technical: measurements, materials, finishes. Lobster's Day needed something different: copy that would explain the origin and intent behind each collection, allowing customers to get a sense of the product before seeing it in person.
's process: La Deriva studied each collection—its historical context, its aesthetic, its internal logic—and drafted the descriptions based on that. Not based on technical specifications, but on the design philosophy behind each piece.
