Interview with three designers:
Jaume Ramírez, Joan Gaspar and Christophe Mathieu.
PIOLA
CHRISTOPHE MATHIEU
How can a lamp convey the lightness of a ribbon that spirals endlessly? The Piola collection tries to imitate this fluidity of infinite movement, floating around the light, in search of a balance between the diffusion of light and the creation of shadows.
A central axis formed by a metal tube holds more than 5 meters of spiral laminated ribbon that envelops the light, protects it and screens it to create an atmosphere of comfort and well-being. In the Piola, several types of light coexist: direct downward light, indirect light through reflection, and the light that filters through the ribbon and illuminates the object itself.
COPERNICA
RAMIREZ I CARRILLO
With just the fingertips, one can have the sensation of weightlessness when moving the Copernica lamp. As if levitating, its weight is barely noticeable, it moves through space precisely without friction or resistance.
Circles, semicircles, tubes and rods of different diameters and thicknesses, different materials and weights... With all these primary elements, the Copernica collection builds geometric light sculptures that establish an intimate relationship with space and combine functionality with the beauty of pure lines.
JAIMA
JOAN GASPAR
With textile as a language, Joan Gaspar is no longer just about designing but also about making clothes, and for this he uses a ductile, flexible material that sifts the light, that sways in the wind but remains firm. In the Jaima collection, the light is the screen and the fabric is the emotion.
This collection takes its name from Jaima, the tent of the Bedouins of North Africa, inspired by their fabrics and shapes. Once the diffuser is defined, a versatile structure is added with changes in height and rotation that allows to throw the light, move it and make it more or less extensible.
